Autorouters

I would like to hear other people's feelings about the current state of autorouting. Does it work? Is it worth the effort?

I used to use autoroute all my boards but, that was a long time ago when all the pins could be placed on a nice simple grid. Have autorouters kept up with the changes in board complexity? Do you use them now?
